Balasore: On Saturday, students at a government-run high school in Balasore went on an indefinite strike to protest the transfer of three teachers in one day.

Janardan High School students in Barbatia's Bhograi block petitioned the district education office to annul the day's transfer orders for Mathematics, Hindi, and Science instructors.

"We've been left in the lurch as exams approach due to the transfer of these trained graduate teachers (TGTs)." Students Dibyajoti Priyadarshani Patra and Sagarika Bhuyan were quoted in the media as saying, "Besides cancelling the transfer orders, the department should also replace empty roles of a headmaster, clerk, and three peons in the school."

According to the newspaper's sources, TGT Arun Kumar Mohanty has been the school's headmaster for three years. There are 150 kids at the institution.

The guardians were outraged by the transfers and sent a statement to District Collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy, requesting his action.

According to Bhograi MLA Ananta Das, the district education officer (DEO) Bishnu Charan Sutar will investigate the situation.
