Heavy to very heavy rain may fall over Odisha over the next four days as a result of a low pressure region that is expected to pass across the northwest Bay of Bengal and its surroundings in the next 48 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department.

Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rain may fall over Odisha over the next four days as a result of a low pressure region that is expected to pass across the northwest Bay of Bengal and its surroundings in the next 48 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department.

"A cyclonic circulation exists over the Northeast and the adjacent Eastcentral Bay of Bengal." Under its influence, a low pressure system is expected to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal and its surroundings over the following 48 hours."

The meteorological service further stated that broad to widespread light to moderate rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted in various Odisha districts over the next four days. 

It also stated that thunderstorms with lightning activity may develop over the next two days, and recommended people to seek refuge in safe places to avoid being struck by lightning.

While a yellow warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning has been issued for the past two days, the intensity of the rainfall may grow beginning September 20.
