34 Accused Arrested By Police In Massive Brawl At Pub In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Police arrested 34 people on Monday in connection with the vandalism of a pub in Odisha's capital. They were apprehended late last night in Cuttack's Goplapur locality, where they had gone into hiding following the tragedy.

Their bus has also been impounded. The primary accused in the case, Sanjeeb Swain, and some of his friends, however, remain at large.

"Those arrested resorted to violence, damaged the window panes of the pub and generated fear in the areas at his command. They then went on a picnic," stated ACP Ramesh Biwal of Bhubaneswar Zone 6.

According to sources, the event occurred as a result of a late-night confrontation between bouncers from the bar under the Chandrashekharpur police limits and Sanjeeb of Laxmisagar and his female friend about 12 a.m. on Sunday when they insisted on being served food and beverages after the bar had closed.

A few minutes later, around 30 individuals arrived on a bus at the bar and vandalized it. However, they were unable to enter the bar because its front gate was closed.

The pub owner later filed a police report. A case was also opened after Swain filed a complaint stating that the bar's staff misbehaved with him and his friend.
