Phulbani: Jaga, a survivor of conjoined twins from Odisha's Kandhamal district, recently welcomed his newborn sister.

On August 7, Bhuyan Kanhar and Pushpanjali, Jaga's parents, were gifted with a newborn girl, according to sources. Subhadra is her given name.

“Jaga is overjoyed about the prospect of having a sibling. He tries to play with her and stays close to her. Kalia was a big part of his life, and he was missing her terribly. Pushpanjali, his mother, remarked, "We all feel his absence in our lives."

On November 25, 2020, Kalia, one of the separated conjoined twins, died at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Jaga and Kalia have been linked at the head from birth. They underwent a 21-hour complex surgery in AIIMS-New Delhi in October 2017 as a result of the state government's assistance and funding. They stayed at the prestigious medical institute for two years to allow the physicians to monitor their health improvement before returning to Odisha in 2019.
