Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre said on Wednesday that the night temperature in three areas in Odisha had plummeted below 10 degrees Celsius in the previous 24 hours.

At 8.5 degrees Celsius, Daringbadi was the coldest, followed by Keonjhar and Kirei at 9 degrees Celsius. G Uadayagiri and Titlagarh recorded a minimum temperature of 10.8 degrees Celsius, while Sundargarh and Baripada recorded a minimum temperature of 11 degrees Celsius.

Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, the twin cities, saw temperatures plummet to 13 degrees Celsius, 2 and 3 degrees below usual. Puri had a temperature of 15.8 degrees Celsius, which was 2.5 degrees below usual.

As the state was once again besieged by a cold wave, over ten stations registered temperatures below normal.

During the next 24 hours, intense fog is expected in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal, according to the MeT office.

In coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj, shallow to moderate fog is highly possible.

Rainfall may resume in the state as early as January 21, according to the forecast.
