3 Hardcore Maoists Of Chhattisgarh Surrender Before Odisha DGP

Bhubaneswar: On Monday, three hardline Maoists from Chhattisgarh surrendered to Odisha DGP Abhay.

The surrendered Maoists were identified as Lakma Madvi alias Lakhan of Isurnag village in Bijapur police limits, Ganga Makam alias Nitesh alias Sendra of Kamalpad village in Kistaram police limits, and Suka Sodi alias Nabin of Dulad in Chintakupa police station, according to the DGP.

The three was given the responsibility of expanding the base in Kandhamal district by the Kodanga-Mahanadi-Sanjukta Area Committee, which is part of the KKBN Division of the Odisha State Committee of the CPI (Maoist).

The senior cop explained, "They had been expressly dispatched to resurrect Mahanadi Area Committee and active northern Kandhamal and bordering axis, which had been dormant since 2018 in the aftermath of the neutralisation of Badal alias Shankar Majhi (DCM) and surrender of Kunu Dehury."

According to the DGP, the Maoists decided to abandon the road of violence surrender in light of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's call to them to join the mainstream society and participate in developmental activities and the Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy.

They also disclosed that they were disillusioned with the party's senior rung officials, who used to mentally and physically pressure and harass lower-rank cadres.

“The Maoist plan and designs in northern Kandhamal and bordering axes would be dealt a heavy blow by the surrender of the three ultras, and their attempt to resurrect the north Mahanadi corridor up to Saranda in Jharkhand state will fall flat,” stated the DGP.

“I encourage to all Maoists to abandon violence and reintegrate into mainstream society,” he added.
