According to accounts, the tragedy occurred while a couple and their two children were traveling to Puri from Kharagpur to pay homage to the Jagannath Temple's sibling deities. They were rescued by locals, who alerted police, who subsequently admitted them to the Soro Community Health Centre.
According to insiders, the family was forced to cancel its Puri plans and return home after being treated at the health institution.
