5G service to be available in Odisha by 2023: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Bhubaneswar: According to the minister for railways, communications, electronics, and information technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, the 5G network service will be accessible in select towns of Odisha by March 2023.

The Minister stated that by the end of 2023, the second phase of the 5G rollout will have nearly all of the state covered.

"By March 31, 2023, around 200 cities, including eight in Odisha, would be eligible for 5G services. But for the time being, I won't say which cities they are," he stated.

The Minister addressed the media at the opening of India's first aluminium freight rake at the Bhubaneswar Railway Station.

It is important to note that the country's leading telecommunications providers, including Vodafone Idea, Airtel, and Reliance Jio, took part in the 5G spectrum auction.

Vaishnaw assured those who were concerned about radiation earlier in September that it would have 10 times less radiation than the standards established by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Due to its 10 times faster service than 4G, 5G is anticipated to benefit telecom users. According to experts, the file that takes 56 hours to download on a 2G network, two hours on a 3G network, and 40 minutes on a 4G network will only take 35 seconds on a 5G network.
