Bhubaneswar: Four persons were electrocuted to death on Saturday in two separate incidents in the Odisha districts of Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, including three women.

According to sources, three women perished in Keonjhar, but a young man was electrocuted to death in the Mayurbhanj area.

While taking their goats to graze in a neighbouring forest, three women from the Juanga hamlet of Tangiri Juangasahi, which is under the authority of Telkoi police station in Keonjhar district, came into touch with live electric wires that had been illegally attached.

The three perished at the scene, and with the assistance of energy department representatives, a police team was able to recover their remains.

Kathi Juanga, Niradhi Juanga, and Manjari Juanga have been named as the deceased. Another goat perished from electrocution.

Another instance in Mayurbhanj included a young man who unintentionally electrocuted himself while attempting to catch fish with live electric wires in the canal water at Nandurusahi hamlet, which is within the jurisdiction of the Kaptipada police.

Santosh Dutt, the young man, and other locals had gone to a nearby canal to catch fish. Santosh fell into the canal as they were sitting on the side of it after dipping live electric wires in the water to catch fish. According to additional sources, he was taken to a hospital where the medical staff pronounced him dead.
