Odisha Woman Teacher Missing Case: Accused Escapes From Police Custody

Balangir: On Monday, after the escapes of Detentionist Gobinda Sahu, Chair of Sunshine English Medium School Managing Committee at Mahaling Odisha's Kalahandi District, three police officers at the Titlagarh Policemen barrack were suspended last night.

After requesting permission for four armed cops to lava their hands after supper, Sahu, who has been imprisoned in connection with the disappearance of Mamita Meer, principal, since 8 October, managed to escape out of the barracks at about 8 p.m.

Nitin Dagdu has suspended three of them for dereliction of duty, Balangir SP Kusalkar.

Notably, Sahu had been arrested in Sindhekela Police Station on 12 October for questions following the concern of the missing teacher, Banti Meher, saying that he harassed the school's female staff sexually and forced them to make physical contacts.

In the meantime, the police are starting a manhunt to capture Sahu. In the town of Titlagarh, all access and departure points were shut.
