Cyclone jawad: No warning from IMD for Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The remains of Cyclone Jawad decreased further early Monday morning after dropping from a deep depression to a depression, according to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) latest and final special advisory on the weather system.

Odisha was not included in the bulletin, which was issued at 8.30 a.m.

"At 5:30 a.m. today, the depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal near the north Odisha coast moved northeastwards and deteriorated into a well-marked low-pressure region over the northwest Bay of Bengal, adjacent to the West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts. During the next six hours, it's expected to move northeastwards and weaken further into a low-pressure system," IMD stated.

The Met Office predicts mild to moderate rainfall in many locations and heavy rainfall in a few spots throughout south Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura as a result of the storm.

This was the last special bulletin on the low-pressure system, according to the IMD. The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, however, would continue to produce frequent weather updates, according to the statement.
