Corrupt OPHWC deputy manager gets compulsory retirement

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Thursday issued a compulsory retirement order to Pratap Kumar Samal, the former deputy manager of the Odisha Police Housing & Welfare Corporation (OPHWC), as part of its battle against corrupt and ineffective personnel.

Samal had already been arrested and suspended for corporate fraud. During Vigilance raids, he was discovered in possession of 25 immovable properties, including five buildings and one flat worth crores of rupees.

During the investigation, the Vigilance Department discovered Rs 1.5 crore in suspicious bank deposits in Samal's and his family' names. According to the Vigilance, the disproportionate assets discovered account for 1021 percent of his known sources of income.
