Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik introduced the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) smart health cards in Keonjhar district on a virtual basis on Thursday.

The smart health cards will be distributed by the local government to the district's 4.19 lakh residents. The BSKY health cards were distributed in 13 districts around the state as a result of this.

On the occasion, the chief minister also lay the foundation stones for a number of development projects totaling Rs 1433 crore.

In his remarks, he stated that by 2022, all homes in the district will have access to piped water. He also mentioned that a massive poultry project will be developed to strengthen the economic sources of Mayurbhanj's tribal community.

At the last Independence Day celebration, the chief minister announced that the government would implement the smart health card facility.

BSKY would offer health cards to 3.5 crore people from 96 lakh families in the state. Each family can have therapy for up to Rs 5 lakh per year, while women can get treatment for up to Rs 10 lakh. Cardholders get access to 200 hospitals across the country for treatment.

Odisha is the first state in the country to implement the health-care programme. Beneficiaries of the national and state food security schemes, Annapurna and Antodaya, will receive the cards.
