Sex racket busted in Jajpur; hotel owner among 6 arrested

Jajpur: In the Panikoili neighbourhood of Odisha's Jajpur district, police discovered a sex racket, detained six people—among them the owner of a hotel—and freed a woman, according to a police officer on Thursday.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police Narayan Chandra Barik, a team of police officers conducted a raid on a hotel along National Highway (NH) 16 in Panikoili on Tuesday night in response to a tip-off and busted the sex trade.

The police were able to save a woman who was involved in the illicit activity, but six people, including a customer, the hotel's owner, and some other employees, have been detained for running the ring.

Police have sealed the hotel after filing a report and starting an investigation to find other people involved in the scam.

"So far, six people have been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing to see whether other people are connected to the racket," Barik continued.
