Bhubaneswar: On Thursday, political leaders from all parties denounced the alleged attack on journalists in Jajpur districts during the third phase of Odisha's Panchayat elections.

The opposition, on the other hand, criticised the ruling BJD for the state's deteriorating law and order situation.

The frequent attacks on scribes, according to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, are not a good omen and raise significant worries about the law and order situation. In politics, there might be disagreements, but violence has no place, he continued.

However, Golak Mohapatra, the General Secretary of the Odisha BJP, specifically condemned the BJD for supporting such attacks. "The Conch party has become intolerant of the BJP's growing popularity, and its members have gone for a booth-capturing rampage." Journalists who report on such attempts to manipulate the ballot are being beaten up," he claimed.

He went on to say that violence during elections is not limited to a few districts and that it is largely unreported.
