Indrajit Mahanty Sworn-In As 6th Chief Justice Of Tripura HC

Bhubaneswar: On Tuesday, Judge Indrajit Mahanty swore in in the Raj Bhavan in Agartala as Sixth Chief Justice to the High Court of Tripura.

The oath to Chief Justice Mahanty was given by Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya in a basic capacity organised per the COVID Protocol.

Before being moved to the High Court of Trypura, Justice Mahanty served as Chief Justice of the High Court of Rajasthan. He replaced Justice Akil Kureshi, who was appointed Chief Justice of the High Court of Rajasthan.

In August 2019, Justice Mahanty was appointed High Court judge in Bombay before being appointed as Chief Justice of Rajasthan HC.

Justice Mahanty was born in Cuttack on 11 November 1960 at the Campus Law Centre, Delhi University and LLB at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Late Ranjit Mahanty, lawyer and lawyer Shakuntala Mahanty is his parental.

Enrolled as an advocate with Orissa State Council in 1984, Justice Mahanty began legal practice under his father till his demise in 1989. Thereafter, started independent practice.

He was elected to the Orissa State Bar Council of India from 1989 to 2006 and represented Odisha in the Bar council of India between 1998 to 2003. He was elevated as Judge of the Orissa High Court in 2006 and transferred as Judge of Bombay High Court in 2018.
