Bhubaneswar: Police arrested prominent lawyer and chairman of Manavbad Sangathan Manas Das from his home in the city on Thursday, following a series of serious allegations against him.
According to sources, Das and his son Manoranjan were hauled up from their home in Saheed Nagar by a special Khurda Police team commanded by SDPO Sushil Mishra. They detained the two and transported them to Khurda for questioning.
Murder, intimidating and torturing tribals, and extortion are among the charges levelled against Das' followers.
According to sources, Das has been apprehended by police. However, the report has yet to be confirmed by the police.
