NDA's presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu files her nomination papers

New Delhi: In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president J P Nadda, and a host of other NDA ministers and leaders, Droupadi Murmu, a tribal BJP leader from the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha and a former governor of Jharkhand, filed her nomination at Parliament House on Friday.

In the nation's capital, Murmu had met Modi, Shah, Singh, and Nadda on Thursday. "I thank you all and ask for your support in the upcoming presidential election. Before July 18, I will meet with every voter (lawmaker) and ask for their support," she had stated in a brief statement.

BJD ministers Jagannath Saraka and Tukuni Sahu also attended Parliament House to represent the party at the nomination filing, as instructed by BJD president and Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik. They also submitted Murmu's nomination papers on Thursday and are proposers from the BJD for her candidacy.
