Chandigarh: Navjot Singh Sidhu, the Punjab Congress chief, has resigned from his position.

On March 16, Sidhu issued a one-line resignation letter to Twitter, captioned: "As requested by the Congress President, I have sent my resignation."

Sidhu's resignation comes a day after Congress President Sonia Gandhi urged the PCC Presidents of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa, and Manipur to quit to allow for PCC reorganisation.

After losing in all five states in the Assembly elections, the congress party demanded that he quit.
