Bhubaneswar: A news portal has been charged for allegedly posting a derogatory article on 5T secretary V K Pandian.

According to sources, Odia News Book on September 12 published an article with the title ‘Pandian accepted Rs 40 lakh to safeguard DFO?’ in connection with the unexplained death of Assistant Conservator of Forests Saumya Ranjan Mohapatra.

Paralakhemundi DFO Sangram Keshari Behera was interrogated and tested for a lie after Soumya's relatives complained that he was involved in this crime.

The administration of the state had requested the cyber unit of the Crime Branch to check the material following the publication of the article. TOI said that the storey was "false and hostile" for Inspector Bibhu Ranjan Sundaray who was given the task of the inquiry.

The Facebook news outlet belongs to one of Telangana's Lakka Rajashekhar. The report said that a case was lodged with him in accordance with Sections 465, (forgery penalty), 469 and471 of the India Penal Code (as genuine forged document or electronic record).

This follows in the wake of the arrest on September 4 of Sudhansu Rout, publisher of another news station, his partner Smruti Ranjan Behera, for allegedly harassing Chand of the Olympians, by threatens to broadcast disgraceful news.
