Odisha Assembly to function for 6 hours everyday during Monsoon Session

Bhubaneswar: Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha announced on Wednesday that the monsoon session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly will start on July 2 with certain adjustments to the timings.

In place of meeting until 6 p.m., the afternoon session would now last six hours, beginning at 4 p.m., he told the reporters.

Two of the 24 working days in this session—which runs through August 4—have been set aside for the conduct of private members' business. On the first day of the session, Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari is scheduled to propose the State Budget for 2022–2023.

He also said that the House would meet under tight COVID rules.

In the meantime, the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's personal presence in the House during the talks has been asked by the BJP and Congress MLAs, as well as the admission of media to the Assembly.
