Bhubaneswar: On Monday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik greeted the people of Odisha on the occasion of Independence Day. He said it was a proud moment for all Odias and the state, which had accomplished many milestones in the previous 75 years and was leading the way for the nation.
After raising the Tricolor at the Independence Day event held at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar, Naveen addressed the people of Odisha and paid honour to freedom fighters, martyrs, and COVID-19 soldiers. "Every Indian won when we gained our independence. the triumph of nonviolence and the truth. The world has been shown the path thanks to this win, he claimed.
In the past 75 years, the nation has accomplished several significant milestones. According to the CM, India can now compete with developed nations in a number of sectors, including agriculture, education, health, science and technology, business, and research. "Odisha has advanced together with the rest of the nation. By reaching numerous landmarks in 75 years, Odisha has paved the way for the rest of the nation, he continued.
"In Odisha, a new era of transformation has begun. The success of Odisha is opening doors for others. We are currently in a food surplus after being in a food shortage. In terms of catastrophe management, the state has led the way. Around 70 lakh women in Odisha have gained empowerment through SHGs, and the state is now a sports hub, according to Naveen.
"Our priority is education. Our educational system is changing. Children now have renewed optimism as a result. The "Adarsha Vidyalayas" of Odisha, which were initially established for gifted village children, are now highly well known. One lakh students are enrolled in 315 outstanding institutions today, from Kotia to the famous OAV in Bhubaneswar. In these schools, 50 hostels have been set up for 5,000 girls, he continued.
The chief minister announced that the state government will lay 3,000 foundation stones for various infrastructure projects in rural areas across 30 districts to commemorate 75 years of India's independence.
Additionally, he discussed the state government's emphasis on youth employment in Odia. "Regular hiring is taking place to fill open positions in the public sector. More than 70,000 entry-level positions in various departments are being filled, he said.
Odisha has done a great job in empowering tribal people. State-born tribal youngsters are currently becoming well-known both domestically and abroad in a variety of disciplines. Sesha Kisan, an Odia, whom I recently met in Rome, made me very happy, Naveen stated.
He claimed that the state administration prioritised nutrition security after food security. He stated that the "Millet Mission" has been expanded to 29 districts and will receive Rs 2,800 crore in funding.
"Lord Jagannath's holy territory is Odisha. Odias have always put country before region and worked with a sense of purpose. The clearest illustration of our sense of nationalism is when Odisha sponsors both the men's and women's national hockey teams of India. Additionally, we shall commemorate our country's 100th anniversary after 25 years. We need to start preparing as a result, the CM remarked.
As part of the security procedures, 15 police platoons were deployed in total.
