Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Crime Branch's Special Task Force (STF) has detained two people, including a State Bank of India (SBI) employee, for alleged ganja smuggling.

Sushanta Kumar Sahoo, a clerk-cum-cashier of the State Bank of India's Kishore Nagar branch in Angul district, and Jugal Sahoo, also from the same area, have been named as the suspects.

On March 21, they were caught during a raid in Banka Palasa hamlet in the district's Kishore Nagar police boundaries. They were found with 165 kg of ganja, one SBML rifle, an SUV, a motorcycle, and other incriminating stuff.

An official release stated that a case has been filed in this regard under relevant parts of the NDPS Act and the Arms Act, and that additional investigation is ongoing.

STF has collected more than 50 kg of brown sugar, 91 quintals of ganja, and arrested 130 drug dealers/peddlers since the special drive against narcotic narcotics began in 2020.
