Bhubaneswar: With the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games starting on Tuesday, renowned artist Sudarsan Pattnaik produced a sand art to wish the athletes well on Puri beach in Odisha.

“Means a lot, Sir,” responded ace para shuttler Pramod Bhagat of Odisha in response to the tweet. Bhagat is one of the favourites to win a medal in the Games.

Deepa Malik, the president of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), praised the "wonderful creative sand art" and predicted that India's para-athletes would make history by achieving their best-ever result at the Games. “The love you express in your art is quite motivating. The athletes will compete with the same zeal with which you created this masterpiece for the Paralympics,” remarked the first woman from India to win a medal in a Paralympic event.

With 54 competitors competing in nine disciplines – archery, athletics, badminton, canoeing, shooting, swimming, powerlifting, table tennis, and taekwondo – India will have the largest contingent at the Games.
