The First Millet Shakti Cafe in Odisha is coming up in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: The Odisha Government inaugurated its first dedicated Millet Shakti Cafe on Thursday with the goal of promoting healthy eating via local produce.

The coffee is made of hot millet-based hot cooked products, packaged millet grains, millet-drinks and a confluence of Mission Shakti and Millet Odisha.

The initiative would also offer women a livelihood, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has tweeted.

The district of Keonjhar was recognised nationally by Millet Mission to rehabilitate millets on fields and plates. The administration aims by launching the café to go on and to provide women self-help organisations the potential of large-scale marketing as well as promotion of millets consumption.

Over 10 millets of hot cooked food will be available at the dealer, more than 10 dry and bakery products, millet beverages, ready-to-cook, prepacted milet graines and ready-to-eat products.

Additional products such as coffee, tea and chocolates are being supplied to make the youthful public attractive. The Quick Service restaurant will also provide packaged millet grains, ready to eat and ready to cook goods provided with processing facilities and Odisha Millets assist FPOs.

The mission in Keonjhar district began in 2019 using Odisha Millets. The five-year initiative has taken on the cultivation of mandia in mining damaged villages in seven district blocks – Banspal, Champua, Joda, Jhumpura, Harichandanpur, Hatadihi and Sadar.

In various components of the scheme, almost 4000 farmers have benefited. In addition, farmers receive an assured price for Ragi with the commencement of Ragi's purchase at MSP which improves the morality of farmers who are typically afraid of loss from paddy growing.

The Government of India has recognised the efforts of the District Administration of Keonjhar to provide Ragi Laddus for morning snacks to children registered under the ICDS district with help from the District Mining Foundation (DMF).
