Bargarh: A group of villagers from Tora approached the police in front of the District Headquarters Hospital in Khedapada close here Saturday morning over the death of a person in police custody the night before.

The villagers claimed that the city police brought up Govind Kumar (25) from his Tora home on Friday night and that he was found dead the next morning.

Meanwhile, Govind's brother Jiten Kumar went to the hospital's seventh floor and threatened to jump if the district administration would not take disciplinary action against the officers who killed his brother and compensate the bereaved family appropriately.

With the assistance of Fire Services personnel, various locals and officials were able to bring Jiten down.

Govind's relatives claim he was deep asleep after a wonderful Friday evening when a swarm of cops arrived at his house and whisked him away before he was discovered dead the next day. Bereaved relatives blocked traffic near the hospital by placing the body on the road and demanding payment for the death.
