Bhubaneswar: Protesting against alleged police excesses on BJP Yuva Morcha members on February 28, the Odisha unit of the saffron party filed complaints at police stations across the state on Friday against the Director General of Police (DGP), Twin City Commissioner of Police (CP), and Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

"The activists, who took out a rally in a peaceful and democratic way, were intentionally attacked to divert attention from Naba Das murder case. A complaint was previously filed in this regard at the Capital police station, but no FIR was filed in violation of Section 154 of the CrPC. "The DGP, CP, and Bhubaneswar DCP are to blame for the attack," said BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan as he led several party leaders and workers to the Kharavela Nagar police station here.

According to BJP state secretary Pinky Pradhan, the government is attempting to change the narrative by diverting attention away from the Naba Das case, which is the main issue in which a police officer is being used as a scapegoat.

Complaints filed by party leaders in other districts are also being reported.

The activists were arrested under Section 307 of the IPC (attempt to murder), according to Prithviraj Harichandan, BJP State General Secretary, despite the fact that the scuffle began after a police officer was seen kicking a BJP Yuva Morcha member. "This is clearly an attempt by the state government to suppress our agitation against deteriorating law and order situation. If our complaints are not accepted at police stations, we will file them in state courts," he added.

On Saturday, the party plans to hold protests in front of all Superintendents of Police (SP) offices.
