CJI DY Chandrachud has recommended Justice Sanjiv Khanna as the next Chief Justice of India.
The Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, who is set to retire, has recommended Justice Sanjiv Khanna as his successor. CJI Chandrachud has formally written to the Union Government proposing Justice Khanna's name. If the Union Government approves this recommendation, Justice Khanna will become the 51st Chief Justice of India. He will take office on November 10, 2024, when CJI Chandrachud steps down, and will serve until May 13, 2025. Justice Khanna was appointed to the Supreme Court in January 2019, having previously served on the Delhi High Court.
