A man who was allegedly planning to kill Salman Khan has been arrested in Panipat.
Khan told police earlier this year that he believed the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had carried out the shooting at his residence with the intention of killing him and his family members.
The Navi Mumbai police have captured a suspect wanted in connection with an alleged plot to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan, an official announced.
The suspect, Sukha, was apprehended from Panipat in Haryana, the official said on Wednesday. He will be brought to Navi Mumbai and produced before a court on Thursday, according to the police.
In June of this year, the police claimed to have foiled a plot to target the actor on his way to his farmhouse near Panvel in Navi Mumbai. This came after a shooting incident outside his residence in Mumbai in April 2024. Khan had informed the police earlier this year that he believed the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind the shooting with the intention of harming him and his family members. The actor's statement is part of the charge sheet filed by Mumbai police in connection with the incident.
Khan also stated that two unidentified individuals tried to trespass into his farmhouse near Panvel using fake identities in January 2024. Additionally, in 2022, a threat letter was found on a bench opposite his building, and in March 2023, they received an email threat from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to Khan's statements to the police.
The police reported that the Lawrence Bishnoi and Sampat Nehra gangs had deployed around 60 to 70 members to monitor Khan's movements, conducting reconnaissance at his Bandra residence, Panvel farmhouse, and film shooting locations.
After receiving specific information about the plot to kill Khan, a case was filed against several individuals at Panvel Town police station on April 24.
