Bhubaneswar: A fire engulfed a government quarters at Unit-II in Odisha's capital on Thursday morning after firecrackers stored in a room exploded.

Firecrackers were being manufactured illegally in the quarters assigned to Niranjan Lenka, an employee of Lok Seva Bhawan here, according to sources. It is still unknown whether the allottee lived there or rented it out to someone else. Though no casualties were reported, the quarters were severely damaged in the inferno.

When the fire department was notified, they rushed to the scene and extinguished the flames before they spread to neighboring areas.
