Four days after arresting Kanhu Charan Pradhan, the mastermind of a cheating and impersonation ring, the Odisha Police Special Task Force (STF) said on Thursday that the accused was previously booked in at least six cases.

Bhubaneswar: Four days after arresting Kanhu Charan Pradhan, the mastermind of a cheating and impersonation ring, the Odisha Police Special Task Force (STF) said on Thursday that the accused was previously booked in at least six cases.

It was discovered during the investigation that Pradhan had previously been booked in at least six cases, and that police had seized a number of fake identity cards from his possession.

Pradhan was arrested after a fake RTI activist, Kishore Mishra, was apprehended on August 18 on the basis of a complaint filed on April 25 at the Koraput Town police station.

Pradhan and his associates defrauded innocent people by impersonating high-ranking government officials. They prepared forged identification cards and impersonated senior officers from various departments of the Odisha government and the Centre.

Previously, the following ID cards were seized from his possession: i. Assistant Director (Tech), Director of PS & P, Odisha, Cuttack, ii. Chairman SC & ST Welfare, Home Dept., Govt. of Odisha, iii. CZM (Special Project), National Highway Authority of India, iv. CCM (Special Project), National Highway Authority of India, v. CCM Project, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.
