Balasore: On Friday, a murder suspect allegedly attacked five members of a police team with a sharp weapon in Odisha's Balasore district.

According to sources, the accused, identified as Padmalochan Patra (50), of Jamudihi village in the district's jurisdiction of Nilgiri police station, attacked police officers who came to arrest him.

The incident occurred when a police team led by Sub-Inspector Biranchi Sahu, ASI Ananta Murmu, ASI Prabodh Mallik, and Constables Aju Madinga and Deepak Parida went to Jamudihi village to apprehend the suspect.

When the police arrived at Patra's house, he launched an attack with a sharp weapon, injuring some of them.

The accused, however, was overpowered by the police and arrested.

The injured police officers were taken to a hospital in Nilgiri for treatment, and their condition was described as stable.

According to police, a new case has been filed against the accused as a result of his attack on the police team, and further investigation is underway.
