Bhubaneswar: On Friday, the opposition BJP and Congress members in the Odisha Assembly slammed the BJD government over the fake certificate racket and the Kotia border dispute.

The opposition lawmakers caused a commotion by raising the issues during zero hour. Many of them marched into the house's well and chanted anti-state government slogans over the two issues.

The proceedings in the House were halted amid raucous scenes. Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha adjourned the House until 4 p.m. because business could not be conducted smoothly.

Taking aim at the state government, BJP stalwart and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra told reporters that there is a link between Vanik coaching centre and the fake certificate racket discovered in Balangir.

The senior BJP leader enquired about Subrat Chhatoi's role in supplying computers to 5T schools. He was also curious about Chhatoi's relationship with the 5T secretary and the IT secretary.

Mishra stated that during zero hour in the House, he also brought up border issues with neighboring Andhra Pradesh.

The BJP leader claimed that Andhra Pradesh is interfering in Kotia and 21 other villages in Koraput district, and that the Andhra deputy Chief Minister is luring locals to the area.

The firebrand leader slammed the state government over the issue, demanding to know the status of the Kotia package announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. "What steps has the state government taken in the border dispute with other states?" Mishra inquired.

Similarly, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Narasingha Mishra stated that fake certificate rackets have been reported from various parts of the state.

According to the veteran Congress leader, photos of a Minister and a former Minister, as well as the main accused in the racket, have gone viral. It is also alleged that the primary accused illegally kept a government quarter in his possession and sought to know what steps the government was taking in this regard.

In response to the opposition's attack, senior BJD leader Arun Sahoo accused BJP and Congress leaders of staging a charade over the Kotia issue. The Central Government has been informed about the problem several times, but no action has been taken to resolve it, he claims.
