No Odisha Congress leader finds place in new CWC; resentment sparked

Bhubaneswar: The reconstituted Congress Working Committee (CWC) has sparked resentment among Odisha party leaders because no one from the state has been included in the highest decision-making body.
Senior Congress leaders from Odisha expressed dissatisfaction on Monday with the composition of the new CWC formed by party president Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday.
Despite the fact that former Union Minister Bhakta Charan Das has been appointed as the party's in-charge, state leaders believe that the AICC has long ignored Odisha.
Expressing his displeasure with the development, veteran Congress leader and MLA Suresh Routray told the media that the AICC is doing Odisha a grave injustice by not including anyone from the state in the CWC for several years. "The AICC has been neglecting, underestimating, and humiliating Odisha by not giving adequate attention to the state and its leaders," the Jatni MLA said.
The fiery Congress leader stated that he will seek justice for Odisha by drawing the attention of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Kharge.
Similarly, senior leader and former state Congress president Niranjan Patnaik stated that it appears that the AICC does not require the services of Odisha leaders.
Sarat Pattnayak, president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), stated that they would have been pleased if more state leaders had been accommodated in the CWC. The OPCC chief also stated that he would travel to New Delhi and request that Kharge include 2-3 leaders from Odisha in the party's apex body.
