Jhili Majhi, a resident of Indira Colony in Janapal village, Pankapal gram panchayat, has been identified as the deceased woman.
According to sources, the accident occurred this morning as Jhili and her husband Sumant Behera (40) were on their way to drop their five-year-old son Ayush off at school. A car collided with a motorcycle in front of Pankapal High School. Jhili died while being rushed to the Manijanga Community Health Centre by locals. Suman and his son were later transferred to Cuttack's SCB Medical College and Hospital as their condition worsened.
While the accident caused outrage, police arrived quickly and appeased the locals. They also seized the vehicle. The driver, on the other hand, managed to flee.
