Odisha celebrates Utkal Divas; President, PM and CM others greet people
President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, and a slew of other dignitaries greeted Odishans on Utkal Divas, which is being celebrated with pomp, zeal, and merriment on Saturday.

The President wished the people of Odisha a prosperous future. “My greetings to fellow citizens, especially to the people of the State, on Odisha Day. With abundant natural resources, skilled and industrious people, Odisha has the potential to be the growth engine of our economy. My best wishes for a bright future of the people of Odisha,” she tweeted.
The Prime Minister in a Twitter post in Odia, said: “Greetings to all on Utkal Divas. “Today is an occasion to know the contribution of Odisha and Odia people towards the progress of the country and enrichment of our culture.”
Noting that April 1 is a day of pride and glory for every Odia, he wished the people of Odisha good health and progress.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also greeted the people of Odisha. “My greetings to all on Odisha Divas. I pay my respects to the great sons of the soil for their immense contribution towards formation of separate Odisha province. I appeal to all to protect the pride and glory of Odisha and be committed for making a new Odisha,” he said in a twitter post.
It should be noted that Odisha was granted the status of a separate province on April 1, 1936, based on its language. It has been a separate state for 87 years. The state government is commemorating the day with state-level events, while great sons of the soil who contributed greatly to the formation of a separate state are being honored.
