Puri: A peon was arrested recently for allegedly stealing Rs 800 from the Jagannath temple's donation box in Puri, Odisha, during the counting process.
Sushant Kumar Routray has been identified as the accused.
According to sources, Sushant was working as a peon in the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration office on Saturday and was tasked with counting the donations received with other officials. He reportedly left the location in a huff even before his shift was over, raising suspicion among those present.
Later, the members reviewed the CCTV footage and discovered Sushant putting money from the donation box in his pocket. They then informed the administration of the incident, and a complaint was filed with Singhadwara police, who arrested Sushant on the spot.
