Puri: To unearth more hidden treasures, new digging began on Friday at Emar Mutt, which is located in the southeastern portion of the Shri Jagannath Temple in Odisha's temple town Puri.

The digging is taking place in three locations. Sub-Collector Bhabataran Sahu remarked, "Three areas on the front part of the mutt are being dug up."

Inside the pit, 522 silver ingots measuring 18 kilogrammes were unearthed in 2011. The silver ingots were valued a total of 90 crore rupees.

45 more silver ingots measuring approximately 35 kg each were discovered inside the pit in April of last year. In September of last year, a new treasure hunt was launched in the aftermath of the discovery.

The mutt, which was founded by Ramanujacharya in 1050 when he arrived in Puri, also yielded silver ingots, a silver tree, silver flowers, 16 antique swords, and a bronze cow sculpture.
