Odisha Increases Testing and Vaccination in Andhra Pradesh Border Districts

Berhampur: After the finding of the Omicron version of COVID-19 in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, the Odisha government has issued a warning to the state's southern areas.

The districts of Gajapati and Ganjam, which have a migrant population from the states of Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, have increased border checks, particularly in the border areas.

The district administrations have taken all necessary steps because a huge number of people are expected to return to their country from AP and Surat.

In the areas surrounding Paralakhemundi town, COVID immunisation and testing have been substantially up. Checkpoints at access points on roadways leading to and from AP have also been stepped up.

Officials are looking into the travel histories of visitors from other states and have asked that people follow COVID standards such as wearing masks, using hand sanitizer, and washing their hands.
