Paradip: Adarsh Police confiscated cigarettes made by foreign firms worth lakhs of rupees from a Kolkata-bound bus on Monday morning.
When the smokes were being put into Surya, a private bus near Jagannath temple here, the cops seized the package. The items may have arrived on a ship and been hauled up to the shore in secret by boats, according to the police.
The bus has been impounded, and its driver and assist, as well as four others, have been detained. The cost of the smokes is believed to be around Rs 3 lakh.
Surprisingly, the shipment that was shipped to the coast managed to sneak past the port's four-layered security system.
