New Delhi: On Monday, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) havildar allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with his AK-47 assault rifle.

According to sources, the incident occurred in the Barkot CRPF camp, which is within the jurisdiction of the Komna police station. In the morning, the havildar, Ram Pratap of Haryana, was on duty in the campus guard room when he shot himself with his service AK-47 weapon.

While Pratap died on the spot, it is unknown why he took such drastic measures.

Komna police arrived on the scene after being alerted and began an investigation. They've also arranged for a post-mortem examination of the body.
