Abhishek's Family Donates Rs 40 Lakh Raised for Operation

Bhadrak: After losing their kid to COVID-19, Abhishek Mohapatra's parents gave Rs 40 lakh to relief funds for persons in need of medical assistance.

Abhishek of Bhadrak died in September of last year after three months of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment in Kolkata due to post-COVID complications.

Mousami, Abhishek's wife, and his father presented Bhadrak Collector Trilochan Majhi with a cheque for Rs 40 lakh, requesting that he send Rs 30 lakh to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF) and Rs 10 lakh to the District Red Cross Fund.

It should be noted that Abhishek's family raised the funds via crowdsourcing after public appeals on social media.

The 28-year-old was taken to Kalinga Hospital in Bhubaneswar on May 18 after testing positive for COVID just a week after his wedding. On May 20, he was sent to the intensive care unit. He was on 100% oxygen and suffering from pneumonia, prompting his family to make a fundraising appeal.

For ECMO treatment, he had to be evacuated to Kolkata. Abhishek passed away on September 3 after a three-month fight.
