Police constable attacked while trying to solve dispute

Balasore: On Sunday, a constable was brutally assaulted while attempting to settle a feud between a couple in the Silang area of Odisha's Balasore district.
Following the incident, the constable, identified as Ajay Singh of the Sartha outpost, was hospitalized.
On Sunday, Bairi Dalei of Sartha village had an argument with his wife, according to sources. Bairi became enraged and began beating his wife with a stick. The woman dashed to the nearby Sartha police station for assistance. The constable and other officers then went to the couple's home to mediate a resolution.
Bairi, who was inebriated at the time, allegedly attacked Ajay Singh with a blunt wooden plank. After being hit on the head, the constable passed out. Singh was rushed to the district headquarters hospital by his colleagues, who described his condition as critical.
The police have begun an investigation.
