Panic gripped Secunderabad-Agartala Express passengers on Tuesday after smoke was detected in a train bogie near Berhampur railway station in Odisha.
Berhampur: Panic gripped Secunderabad-Agartala Express passengers on Tuesday after smoke was detected in a train bogie near Berhampur railway station in Odisha.
According to sources, several passengers de-boarded the train at Berhampur railway station after smoke was allegedly detected in the B-5 coach.
According to early reports, some passengers noticed smoke in the B-5 coach and called 911. Following that, several passengers reportedly got off the train and expressed reluctance to travel even after the smoke was controlled.
According to East Coast Railway (ECoR) officials, the minor incident occurred due to an electrical problem.
It is reported that a minor electrical issue happened in the coach No. B-5 of Train No. 07030 Secunderabad-Agartala Express near Brahmapur station. According to an ECoR statement, the on-duty staff responded immediately and resolved the issue.
Many passengers were in a state of fear as the incident came in the aftermath of the horrific triple train mishap at Bahanaga in Balasore district of the state on June 2 which claimed the lives of at least 278 people and left more than 1000 injured.
