Bhubaneswar: A doctor was transferred after a video of a security guard checking patients' blood pressure at Laikera Primary Health Centre in Odisha's Jharsuguda district went viral.

Tankeswar Budula, the doctor, was transferred to Remata Primary Health Centre in Lakhanpur block following an investigation into the incident by a five-member team led by Jharsuguda Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Dolamani Patel.

The security guard, according to sources, attended to patients after 11 a.m. In the absence of doctors and pharmacists, he would enter their names into the register, check their temperature and blood pressure, and prescribe medications.

Patients claimed that they had raised the issue previously, but that no action was taken.
