Keonjhar: In the past 18 days, at least 13 kids who were receiving care at the Keonjhar district hospital in Odisha have reportedly passed away.

The parents of babies who passed away claimed that medical malpractice was to blame for their children's deaths. They alleged that because the doctors failed to timely visit the hospital's Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), the infants died.

Six children allegedly passed away in the previous 12 hours, according to unofficial sources, notwithstanding Assistant Divisional Medical Officer (ADMO) Kishore Prusty's confirmation that four children perished in the previous 24 hours. After the babies died, their family members raised a commotion inside the hospital, holding the authorities accountable for the fatalities on Sunday.

The chief district medical officer (CDMO) and the local sub divisional police officer (SDPO) went to the hospital after being told. By promising to investigate into the situation and punish those guilty for the fatalities, they attempted to calm the worried families.

The charges have not been addressed by the hospital administration, and the exact cause of the fatalities has not been determined.

The Keonjhar District Administration has been tasked with looking into the situation and providing a report on the actions taken, according to Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kisore Das.
