27-Year-Old Woman ‘Raped’ By Father For 4 Years

Bhubaneswar: In disturbing news, a woman in the Kendrapada region of Odisha has claimed that she has been sexually assaulted by her father, a police driver, for four years.
According to the allegation made by the 27-year-old woman at the Mahila police station in Bhubaneswar, she had been residing in Pattamundai for the previous 15 years with her family. She claimed that her father, a driver who had lately been transferred to Ali from the Pattamundai police station, had been raping her on multiple occasions since last year.
She went on to say that despite telling her mother, maternal uncle, and paternal uncle about this, they all put her in her place and warned her not to talk about it to anyone else. Her father beat her up and dumped boiling gruel on her after learning about her complaint to the family members.
On August 15, the girl was sexually assaulted by the police driver once more, so she travelled to Bhubaneswar to stay with a friend. Her family pleaded with her to go back home and even issued a death threat if she persisted in staying with her pal. On September 7, she reported the threat to the city's Mahila police station out of a sense of insecurity.
The case has been transferred to the Pattamundai police station because the crime was committed there. After a rape case was reported to Pattamundai police station on September 14 and the media learned of it on Sunday, the situation came to light.
According to sources, police have opened an inquiry into the girl's father's allegation but have not yet made an arrest.
