Six of 14 Omicron cases found as local contacts: Odisha Health Director

Bhubaneswar: The state government announced on Sunday that eight of the 14 Omicron cases discovered on Saturday had a history of foreign travel.

Bijay Mohapatra, Director of Health Services, told reporters here that those infected with the Omicron variant of COVID-19 range in age from 11 to 54 years. He went on to say that seven of them are men and the rest are women.

He went on to say that four people with the Omicron variant live in the Balasore district, as many in Sambalpur, and the rest in Jajpur and Khurda.

Mohapatra stated that all identified persons' contact tracing and testing had been completed. While the majority of cases tested negative, those who tested positive are being held in isolation. All of the patients' conditions were stable, he added.

The director stated that no decision has been made regarding the booster dose of COVID vaccines, but that the precautionary dose of vaccines will begin on January 10, as previously announced by the government.
