Cuttack: A juvenile has been nabbed by Sadar Police for reportedly attempting to rape a college girl in the Mahanga region of Cuttack district with his buddy and then posting the video on social media.
The crime was discovered after the victim approached ChildLine staff, who filed a complaint with the Mahanga police station on Friday evening.
According to the complaint, in May of this year, two Mahanga adolescents forcibly took a Plus II student from a private college to a room and attempted to rape her. They also made a video of the incident.
They summoned her to a secret location again in August, threatening to make the video viral if she did not comply with their demands. They posted the footage on social media when she declined.
She finally reported the incident to ChildLine district officials after getting over her humiliation and self-blame.
A case has been filed, according to a senior Cuttack Rural Police official, and attempts are underway to apprehend the other suspects.
The officer said, "Medical examinations of the victim and the accused will be undertaken today, and the victim's statement will be recorded in the presence of a local magistrate under Section 164 of the CrPC."
