Balangir: Schoolboy hit by javelin, critical

Balangir: On Saturday, a javelin penetrated a student's neck during the annual sports meet of Agalpur Boys' High School in Odisha's Balangir.

According to sources, the pupils were practicing various sports prior to the start of the annual sports festival scheduled to be held at the school.

During the practice session, a student threw the javelin, puncturing Class IX student Sadanand Meher's neck and lodged below his chin. He lives in the district of Agalpur.

Meher was taken in serious condition to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital for immediate treatment. A special medical team has been assembled to remove the javelin, and the surgery is currently underway.

The Balangir Additional District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, and District Education Officer have also visited the hospital.
